Beer is the path of the dark side.
Beer leads to hangover.
Hangover leads to late ...getting up.
Green I'm feeling this morning!

Picked this discarded Monster can up at the end of my lane. It had been out there for some time hidden in the undergrowth, quite decomposed, faded colours and corrosion holes, it was a nightmare to work with ;)

To make a living as an ARTIST, be versitile!

Versatility is the key, whether in your fine art or your commercial art, its crucial you have a wide selection of tools at your fingertips.
Particularly being able to adapt illustration styles and techniques will open you up to more work. Just sticking to one theme, even if it has been lovingly developed by yourself  will restrict your workload and money you earn...we all have to eat after all.
Having more strings to your bow will also make life a more interesting, as they say variety is the spice of life!
As an Art Director I have commissioned many different styles of illustration never using the same one, unless it was part of a campaign.
This kept my portfolio of work looking diverse too. So adapt, be a chameleon and you may make a few squid!

Would people buy my trashy art?

I collect things,
I drive my wife crazy! This will come in use for something I think, just give it time and an idea will filter through. If idea works or not that’s fine, that's all part of the fun.
Plastic bottle tops, I ha
|ve hundreds...ask my wife! Heres a ways I have put them to use.
I think they look cool...what do you think, and do you think anybody would buy my trashy art?

Becoming a rubbish artist.

Working for over 20 years in sheet metals, I had thought one night while having a few beers ...could I use this as a resource? And save money and recycle at the same time.
I set to experimenting, cutting off the top and bottom of the can but it turned into a coiled spring and a nightmare to work with! After a few failed efforts I found a way to make the metal more workable.
At first I used the inside of the can for my artwork, but after having to explain on multiple occasions to clients that it was a can I had used, I decided to utilise the printed side. Picking the colour or the
can design to fit the character,
I produce these unique images,
striking a balance between seeing the character first then the can branding,
or vice versa.
